Meet Our Team

Padma founded Sangeetha Bharathi School of Carnatic Music in 2004 and has over 100 students and 15 graduates across New Zealand, Australia, India and the USA. A PhD graduate in Carnatic music and an AIR graded artist, she has been performing for over 30 years with an aim to make Carnatic music available to anyone who wants to learn.

Govardhan Mallela is a Chartered Accountant and Managing Director of TASNZ Ltd. in Auckland, New Zealand. Practising for over 20 years, he takes active interest in community activities and has been the driving force behind the growth of Sangeetha Bharathi School of Carnatic Music and all its activities.

Sridevi Chitti has been singing since childhood; her first guru was Dr. Padma Mallela. She holds a Masters in Carnatic vocal music from Sri Potti Sriramulu Telugu University and trains under Sri D.V. Mohanakrishna in Hyderabad. She has taught music for over 15 years and heads the Hyderabad chapter.

Vishnu Priya is a disciple of Padma Mallela and trained under Sangeetha Bharathi School of Carnatic Music before completing her Graduate Diploma under the Academy of Fine Arts (London). She underwent 12 years of advanced training under Dr. Mangalampally Balamuralikrishna and trained under Dr. Radha Venkatachalam from Delhi. She currently heads the Sweden Chapter.

Balu Mallela is pursuing a Medical degree at the University of Sydney. A Carnatic vocalist also adept in mridangam and ghatam, he has learnt for over 15 years under Sangeetha Bharathi School of Carnatic Music and graduated with a Graduate Diploma in music from the Academy of Fine Arts (London). He teaches students in Sydney and online.
